Elizabeth Edwards talks Health Care on Jon Stewart

The other night Elizabeth Edwards was on Jon Stewart and they started talking about health care in the USA. What she said made me so angry, I had to post this for you to see. The comment is about 3 minutes into the segment of the show when she begins to talk about United Health Care and the President of United Health's salary. According to Elizabeth Edwards 1 in every 700 dollars spent on health care in the USA, wen to pay this asshole's salary. The crowd in Stewart's audience had the same reaction I did.

I understand your outrage. I personally did not get outraged, cause I'm used to the fact that corporations are raping their customers. ie: the banks, the car companies, etc. It does not surprise me that their president makes so much. Insurance companies are out to make money, they don't care about sick people.

But, I kinda like her idea of having a government healthcare option as opposed to completely universal healthcare.

I too was outraged. I told a few people that statistic.

I then decided I better do some fact checking before I sent it on to my conservative anti-gov father. I found alot of people trying to fact check it, and no one being able to come up with $1 in every $700.

I, like most Americans, like choice. But what if choice costs 30% more? Single Payer doesn't mean doctors work for the government -- just like your doctor doesn't work for Blue Shield right now. The efficiencies gained by one paper/electronic system would drop the costs by 30%.

Single Payer would not eliminate 3rd party insurance. It would mean everyone's primary would be a Gov insurance agency. Just like people buy additional AFLAC today.

It supprises me that REAL Medical Professionals what this:
